In this lesson, Marks of True Devotion, many in the (ancient) New Testament world would go to great lengths to express their dedication to their gods. Some would abuse their bodies to express devotion. Jews offered countless animal and food sacrifices. However, this requires more than killing sheep or building idols. It requires the ultimate sacrifice. A living, self-sacrifice. This type of  Devotion requires a proper evaluation of your relationship to God. There are many people in love who claim undying devotion, but the divorce courts show that much of this is mere words. Likewise there are thousands who claim it to God, but who fail to demonstrate the true marks of loyalty. If you cannot truly claim the Mark of True Devotion to God based on your past, why not make a genuine commitment to Him now?
