Mark 2:1-12

1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Immediately – without lapse of time; without delay; instantly; at once:

Carpe Diem – Latin. seize the day; enjoy the present, as opposed to placing all hope in the future.

Our walk with God depends on us being able to respond to the Lord. Sometimes it is in a slow fashion, but there are other times God wants us to respond to His Spirit right now, without thinking about it. God defies logic!

Our finite minds will never be able to understand God. Our greatest hindrance is when we, with humanistic thinking, try to figure out God.

The Pharisees tried to figure out God. They reasoned in their hearts, basically judging Jesus, because they didn’t fully understand who he actually was. God showed them His power when he commanded the man sick of the palsy to “Arise, and take up they bed, and go thy way into thine house.” There was a lot of unbelief prevalent at this moment, but the lame man still believed, and he immediately rose and walked.

1 Samuel 17:4-7

4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.

6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.

7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.

1 Samuel 17:40-49

40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

47 And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.

48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

Never measure your problems by what you can do, always measure the problem by what God can do!

Goliath is estimated to be about 13’4” tall. According to scripture, he had approximately 308 lbs. of armor on and carried a spear that was as big as a weaver’s beam and a 20lb. sword.

When Israel looked at Goliath and then looked at themselves, there was no comparison, but when you compare Goliath with God there is no comparison!

David heard the challenge and couldn’t figure out why no one answered it. Without thinking, by faith, he answered that call. He didn’t get special weaponry to fight Goliath, he simply used what he was used to. God did not let him down; Goliath fell immediately. David defeated the enemy in the Lord’s name.

All we have to do is respond in faith, without thinking, and God will give us the victory.

Acts 10:42-48

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

We cannot explain why God chose the Holy Ghost to live inside our hearts. These folks were not supposed to even have a chance at the Holy Ghost, but God chose them. While Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost fell immediately. All the was required was them to respond to the tugging they felt in their hearts. You can’t explain God; you just have to respond to Him.

All that is required to receive the Holy Ghost is repentance, and immediate response to the Spirit of the Lord, allowing the thankfulness and worship in your heart to express itself to God!

By your response, your faith is activated, and the Lord will respond to faith faster than anything.

And when faith is used the Lord responds immediately!

Right now, God will fill you with the Holy Ghost!

Acts 3:1-8

1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

God produces results immediately!

You do not have to wait any longer. This morning you can have your need met immediately by allowing the Lord to move in your life!
