Dreams That Never Come True

 

Isaiah 29:8

It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

 

• Perception or Reality?
• Cartoons?
• Childish dreams
• Day dreaming
• Vivid, real dreams

 

Hebrews 11:25

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

 

• Sin can be pleasurable
• Satisfying the flesh or the inner man
• Does not have a lasting satisfaction

 

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 

• You earn a wage when you sin
• And what you earn is death to the spiritual man, which in turn becomes death to the physical man
• You earn your wages from sin, but salvation is a GIFT from God
• Reap what you sow, @ sometime…

 

Luke 15:11-24

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

 

• Dreamed a dream
• Bought himself a good time
• Riotous living
• Spent and lived all that he had
• Thought within himself that this splurging of the flesh would satisfy the longing in the spirit
• Woke up one morning in a hog pen
• Headed back to Daddy’s house to be a servant

 

SIN:

• Always paints such a pretty picture
• Gives you just enough of what you think you are looking for to hook you on what you do not want
• Creates a dream world for you to believe that you are or will live in
• Always lets you buy on credit, but will always make you pay later
• Is the devil’s way of infecting you with the very thing that will keep you out of Heaven

• Went to sleep hungry
• Dreaming that you are eating
• Wakes up still hungry and the soul is empty
• Went to sleep thirsty
• Dreaming that you are drinking
• Wakes up still thirsty and the soul is thirsty

Matthew 19:16-22

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
