Plug It In, Plug It In

Luke: 24:49 Is the focus, Perhaps read vs.45 thru the end of chapter.

Jesus gives his followers a giant task to do here, which is reach every nation with the saving gospel. But first he said to wait until they receive the POWER to accomplish this task.” DON’T START WITHOUT IT!”

Many folks, now days will teach you that the Holy Ghost, (THE POWER) is not needed, it’s just an added blessing, or that it was only for those folks back in the Bible days. I guess they think that there own human power is all they need. They (so to speak) accept the Lord as their savior and then get started with their mission without waiting for the promise of the Father.  But I Don’t read Luke 24:49 as an option but a command.

The mill where I work has 161,000 volts feeding the transformer yard where it is transformed down to 13,800 volts, then again transformed down to 2300 volts. From there it is distributed to various load centers and then transformed down to 480 volts or 220 volts or 110 volts.  161,000 volts is pretty much unusable, but by transforming down to a smaller voltage we can make use of the power.

Before we come to the Lord our pride has us so lifted up we are of no use to him.  The word tells us in Matt. 23:12, And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abase; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. And again in James 4:10 Humble your selves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up. Romans 12:2 says we need to be transformed. It says. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We need to be a vessel, or a devise that is plugged into His power. And His power will transform us into something usable.

Unless we are plugged in to the source we are of no use in the kingdom of God. Rom. 8:9 says without the Spirit of Christ we are none of his.

God has wanted us to reconnect with Him ever since the fall in the garden, where man was disconnected from God. (Separated)

Reconcile means to reconnect. 2Cor. 5:18 says, And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.  You see He wants us back, and he has given us the ministry to help others get reconnected too. He wanted us back so bad that he transformed his self down to our level came to us in the form of man. Jesus Christ the only mediator bridged the gap. (you may illustrate by reaching out and pulling people together) How could He do that? Because he was both 100% man and 100% God.  Jesus is the adaptor or the connector so to speak. But still some folks don’t want to get connected, (filled with the Holy Ghost) Some say it’s not necessary. Or they think they are connected without receiving the Holy Ghost. But you see anytime something gets connected they are filled with the power of the source from which they are connected to. That was the whole purpose of Jesus coming to the Earth, to reconnect us to God. (PLUG IN THE LAMP BUT DON’T TURN IT ON YET) I plugged this lamp in to the source and now the power that was available from the outlet is now in the lamp.

When we Repent, get buried in the name of Jesus and then filled with the Holy Ghost, we have been reconnected.

But once we have been reconnected we have to make use of the power we have been connected to. It’s no good to have the Power of the Holy Ghost if you make no use of it. Its no good to have the power if you are just going to sit there and do nothing. We have been given the Ministry of reconciliation. That means get busy and win souls, tell them or teach them how to get reconnected.

This lamp is plugged in but I ain’t using it. If I don’t put the power to work it is useless.

Jesus gave us the power to fulfill a mandate a command a task. He gave us the Holy Ghost for a purpose, to witness, to testify, to teach, preach, and to reach.

How do I get plugged in to his power? Well I notice this plug has two prongs, ( unplug, hold up plug so that prongs are pointing up) We need to raise our two prongs up to the source and worship him. ( I have one prong of spirit and another of truth) in spirit and in truth. After you have been obedient to the Word, you humbled your self, repented , got baptized in His name then lift up your hands and praise him and He will connect you to His power He will fill you with the Holy Ghost.

How do I put it to use? ( PLUG IT BACK IN AND TURN IT ON) Let your light shine before all men. Witness and testify at school, on the job, at Wal-Mart, pray with people no matter where you are at. Minister to them, invite them, teach them a home Bible study or even a 30 min. lesson during lunch. Work for the Kingdom, Don’t let the power go unused. Win SOULS.

I tell you from experience when you come in contact with live power you will react. I am an electrician at International Paper in Courtland Al. over the last 25 years I have come in contact with 110 volts, 220 volts and several times with 480 volts. ( If  you have ever been shocked by power demonstrate what your reaction was) I responded a little differently to each voltage. When God gets a hold of you with His awesome power lets hope that its dc voltage and it never turns loose of you.   I remember one night years ago when my wife, Brenda got up in the middle of the night because she thought she heard the water in the basement over flowing. We had a water softener on one wall that went through a nightly cycle and emptied into the utility sink across from it on the other wall. I had never gotten around to putting in a receptacle close to the softener so we had an extension cord running along the floor over to it. Plugged in at about the half way point in the middle of the floor. Well Brenda had done some painting that day and cleaned up the tools she used and left them in the sink stopping it up. She got up ran down stairs and half way across the now flooded floor, where she began to instantly get fried. She screamed out at the top of her lungs TIM, I ran down the stairs stopped at the door way and I knew what was happening. I had two choices; I could walk through the water to the breaker panel or to Brenda. I walked over to Brenda feeling only a tingle on my feet, picked her up and carried her out. Thank you Jesus we could all have been fried, because when I had just gotten Brenda out, there sat my two children Matthew and Monica on the steps. Awakened by the commotion.

We need a little commotion around here to awaken us.

God I want to get Holy Ghost fried, I want to be toasted in His Power. When someone comes in contact with the Power of God in church, it seems that it awakens everyone in the building.  Let’s have a Book of Acts Holy Ghost awakening revival.
