Mission Impossible
Christians in Action (C.I.A.)
Matt : 28,19 Luke : 24,49 This is our mission if we so do wish to except it.
Back in the 60’s and early 70”s there was a TV show called mission impossible. The show consisted of a team of highly skilled and trained detectives who excepted missions that were deemed impossible by all other agencies and organizations. Because of the extreme high risks involved the mission was strictly voluntary.
Matt. 28:19 is an impossible mission set before us. How could just a few of us reach the entire world with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ?
The people around us are not in to Jesus. They are in to Sports, Roll Tide, The World series, The super bowl, Earnhardt jr. #8. Not Jesus.
They’re into N’Stink, I mean N’sync, U2, Britney Spears, Ashley and Jessica Simpson, and the latest country and rock stars. Not Jesus
They’re into money, fortune, and wealth, the stock market, investments. But Not Jesus.
They’re into popularity, Worldly styles and dress, Tommy, Old Navy, Duck Head, they’re into tattoos and body piercing. But not Jesus.
They allow the world or the devil to dictate to them how they should look, dress, act, think, and believe.
We have got to protect our selves from the tight hold grip of the world. If we let it, the world will slip in and start to control us. I notice that long hair on boys is coming back in. Hair hanging in their eyes, that’s cool now. We can’t let the world be our guide and be Christians at the same time. This Bible is what needs to be our guide. This Bible needs to be what tells us how to look, dress, act, think, and believe. Jesus, WE are your people, we belong to you. Let us be a reflection of You and Your holiness.
You see our task, if we choose to accept it, is to reach these people with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. Not to join them, but to save them. To throw them a saving line of rescue, we must first have our feet planted where it’s safe.
Oh, but we are dealing with people that want nothing to do with Jesus. They are too busy with their own life, College, career, or they are shopping, traveling, playing, partying, Far too busy for Jesus.
So your impossible mission is to reach these impossible people who want nothing to do with JESUS.
And the RISKS involved, you don’t want to know the risks. They are many. We need to be strong to even think about attempting to start this mission.
Some of the Risks Include: Unacceptance from your peers. Your school mates or work associates may think of you as weird. Your friends and relatives will think you lost it. You risk being mocked, made fun of, talked about behind your back, left out of things, laughed at and shunned. You may lose friends or a job over the stand you make. A time may come when you risk being beaten or put in prison or even put to death all because of the stand you will make by joining the C.I.A.
Apostle Paul was one of the first C.I.A. members. He records in the 2nd book of Cor. 11:24 & 25 because of the stand he made he was 5 times whipped with 39 strips, 3 times beaten with a rod, once stoned dragged out of town and left for dead, Three times ship wrecked,( Has anyone here ever been ship wrecked?) ( No!, but the ship the devil would like to wreck is our WORSHIP) But he can’t touch this. (PRAISE HIM). Besides all that, Paul says that he was often put in prison Robed, often in perils and hard times.
Now Paul didn’t do all that for his health, but he did it because he ACCEPTED THE MISSION.
The good news is Jesus did not leave us high and dry, but He gave us some special tools to work with. ( kind of like secret agents who have all these special devices to help them to accomplish the impossible)
1st off He gave the disciples the great commission but told them first to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father. In other words here is your mission but don’t get started until you receive the power to accomplish it. (Isn’t it strange how many denominations think they can do it with out the power, they get started with out it, right off from the get go they have disobeyed Jesus.)
So we have or can get the Holy Ghost that will lead and guide us.
2nd because we have the Holy Ghost we can Put on the whole armor of God. (Elaborate on each item.)
Gird our self with Truth, Shod our feet with the prep of the Gospel of peace. Breast Plate, Shield of Faith, Helmet of salvation, And the Sword of the Spirit which is his WORD.
AND THIS IS WHY THE MISSION IS POSSIBLE. BECAUSE HIS WORD SAYS.
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH CHRIST THAT STRENGTHENS ME!
IF GOD BE FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US!
THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT CARNEL BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD TO THE PULLING DOWN OF STRONG HOLDS!
NO WEAOON THAT IS FORMED AGAINST US SHALL PROSPER!
And the reward for being on this team is out of this world.
Who will join me and become a Christian In Action.
The very ones that mock you and make fun of you are the very ones that need you. They need you to be that light. To be that ROCK that doesn’t change or give in to peer pressure. Hold true to the doctrine and the Faith and to the standards and be STRONG.
LET’S together WIN SOULS, LET’S ACCEPT THE MISSION AND ACCOMPLISH THE TASK.
