It’s Not the Size of the Stone

It’s the Spirit of the Rock

I Samuel 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

I Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

·        The Spirit of God is all inclusive

Love, joy, peace, righteousness, mercy, might, power

David was a man that understood that in order to have it all you must have God’s spirit.

I Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.

It was the spirit that led David every day.  (Lion and Bear)

Now we find that the Spirit has led David to fight Goliath.

The Spirit will lead you into places you never thought you’d go…

The spirit guides David’s footsteps down to the brook.

God led David to those five smooth stones.  Why?

David knew how to fight with stones.  He had practiced many an hour out in the fields tending the sheep.

It’s all about preparation.

·        God’s not going to put a stone in your hand, until you know how to use it.

David picked up 5 small smooth stones to take on a very big man.

Why 5 stones?

David knew he only needed 1.

5 small stones for 1 big Philistine?

·        God always gives you more that you need to overcome the enemy.

·        Goliath had 4 sons (II Samuel 21:22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.)

God knew there’s a new generation of Giants that are coming and I’m going to give David everything he needs to take out those giants also.

John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:9 …for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

God’s looking for a weapon to use against the giants of our generation!

Will you be one?

God wants to raise up some young people here tonight!

If any other man would have taken those five stones to go out and fight Goliath, they would have failed miserably.

The only reason that stone was any good was because it was in the hand of the man who had the Spirit of God resting on him.

If you want to be raised up and used by God, you’ve got to get in the right hands.

You must get in God’s hand, not your own, not anybody else’s.

You’ve got to get into God’s hand.

John 10:29 …and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

It’s not the size of the stone.  It’s the Spirit of the Rock!

·        If we want revival, it’s not going to come by how big we are.  It’s going to come by God’s Spirit…

(Keep this fast paced)

Isaac:

Genesis 26:19 And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

Esek – Quarrel

Sitnah – Strife

Rehoboth – Broad places

·        Charismatics

The Charismatics can’t have this well, because they don’t have the true Spirit.  They’ve been building by might, and power!

They can copy the spirit, but they can’t possess it until they understand the holiness of God.

It’s the spirit that is going to give us the well of Broad places!

It’s God’s spirit that’s going to bring Revival.

It’s God’s spirit that’s going to raise you up, and make you a weapon in the hand of God.

·        It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.

·        It’s not the size of the Pentecostal that lives for God; it’s the size of God that lives in the Pentecostal!
