True Worship

True worship always consist of 2 parts – spirit & truth.

False worship, meaning anything not genuine, a counterfeit, is always lacking one, or both of these items.

Worship based on spirit alone is insufficient.

Worship based on truth alone is insufficient!

Gen. 27:6-23 – “You can’t just go on feeling!”

A lot of Charismatics base their worship solely on feeling, & emotion!

“This feels like it’s God!”

If you only go by feeling you will be deceived just like Isaac was!

Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice!”

I Kings 19:9-14

·        Elijah felt the wind, but God wasn’t in the wind!

·        Elijah felt the earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake!

·        Elijah felt the heat from the fire, but God wasn’t in the fire!

God came to Elijah in the still, small voice!

What was that voice? The Word!

We cannot go on feeling alone! We need the Word!

Mat. 15:14 – “if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

How does a blind man follow another man? By following his voice!

We need to make sure we are following the right voice at all times!

We can’t just go feeling! We need to go by the voice of truth!

The flip side of all this is that there are others who base their worship on truth alone. Truth alone has never brought Apostolic revival & it never will!

“The letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life” – II Cor. 3:6

I’m afraid there are too many Pentecostal churches that try to worship in truth and never have a move of the Spirit!

The Father is seeking those who will worship in Spirit!

John 6:63 – “It is the Spirit that quickeneth …”

TAB – “It is the Spirit Who gives life …”

It is possible to have a church that is built solidly on truth, Deut. 6:4, John 3:5, Acts 2:38, & still be dead as a hammer!

In Genesis chapter 2, God formed the body of Adam from the dust of the ground, & it was just a dead, lifeless corpse until God breathed into Adam’s nostrils the breath of life & Adam became a living soul.

In Acts chapter 2, God had assembled a group of believers in an upper room, but they were not the living, vibrant body of Christ until that room was filled with a rushing mighty wind & they were all filled with the Holy Ghost!

Truth did not give birth to the Apostolic church!

The Spirit gave birth to the Apostolic church!

And if the Spirit is not moving & operating in the church, then the church is dead!

Without the Spirit, the church is only a dead lifeless body, just like Adam was.

He had form ( head, body, legs, arms ), but no life.

Paul warned us that in the last days men would have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof. TAB – “they … are strangers to the power …”

I don’t want to be a stranger to the power of God, or His voice!

I don’t want my worship to be in vain, or useless!

I want to worship Him in Spirit, and in truth, because that is what He is looking for!

We can be like Cain, & offer God the kind of worship that we want to, or we can be like Able, & offer God the kind of worship that He wants!

As for me & my house, we will worship the Lord in Spirit & in truth!
