In this sermon The Tragedy of a Divided Heart, to try to make the best of both worlds is to lose both. When we walk in the steps of Lot's wife: We go back on the position we once took for God. We become formal and cold, no longer alive to the work of God. Love of things takes possession, money, rewards of the world, literature of the world-these take first place in our affections. We will even flatter ourselves that all is right with our souls when it is all wrong. Lot's wife was conquered by worldliness, not by murder, or adultery, or stealing.  She was infected with love of the world.
