In this sermon The Family Trusts You, to be betrayed is to trust someone. Betraying a person is also having been trusted by that person to help them and do good to them, when you turned around and hurt that person instead.

We need to care about what others think. We're a family of God. Somebody is trusting you. Do not betray them with a sinful act or careless attitude. To think you do not care what anyone else thinks, and that you'll do what you want to do, is to betray your brother and your Lord. Someone knows you go to church. Their lives become concerned over God and Heaven. So they come to our church since they know you come.  And they are looking up to you. But when they come, they see you talking and disrespectfully ignoring the sermon. They see the people worship, and expected to see you doing the same, but you won't. They are disappointed, and they are hurt. The church is betrayed since you did not help things, but hurt the growth of the church. A visitor comes who knows not a soul.
