In this sermon The Christian Life is a Terrible Thing to Waste, God placed a man in the Garden in Eden and He intended that Paradise to be the home of mankind. The name “Eden” literally means Paradise, or Heaven. Man was given a Heaven on earth, so to speak. But man was driven out from this Paradise due to sin. In disobedience to God, Adam partook of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
