Not Thieves and Merchants, but Seekers of God
In this sermon Not Thieves and Merchants, but Seekers of God, Jesus began His public ministry by casting out money changers from the temple in John. He did the same thing at the end of His ministry, the day he rode into Jerusalem when people cried hosanna, and the religious leaders urged the people to stop praising Him. The temple was intended for His type of ministry rather than the ministry of the moneychangers. Both times He said the temple of God is meant to be the house of prayer. We all know what it is to pray. However, healing people and teaching people (which is what he did after He cast out the moneychangers), must also be agreeable to prayer, since He did those things in the temple after saying His House is the House of Prayer. How can prayer include healing and teaching? PRAYER is simply SEEKING GOD. We SEEK GOD when we hear His word. WE SEEK GOD when we receive healing, for Healing comes from God. Seeking God is filling your minds with Him. Seeking God is throwing everything else out of your minds, and concentrating upon His glory, His honour and His majesty. And you receive something when you SEEK GOD.
