Hearing The Two Trumpets

Hearing The Two Trumpets

This message Hearing The Two Trumpets, reminds us to not venture too far from the Lord, for our safety.

The text for this sermon is taken from Numbers:1-7.  It is not a message of fear or judgement or condemnation.   Rather one of information that leads to either one's safe journey or their ruin.

The instructions were as follows:

  • There were two trumpets made of silver.
  • They were to be used for two separate things.
  1. The calling of the assembly.
  2. The journeying of the camps.

The first trumpet was to be used as a warning or sign.  It meant it was time to stop what you were doing and prepare for that day’s journey.

They lived with this responsibility for forty years.

When the second trumpet was sounded, it was the sign that it was time to start moving. To move forward and pursue that promised land. Some were unable to hear the blowing of the first trumpet. That meant they were unprepared to hear the second trumpet.

Doing so would jeopardize their ability to hear the first trumpet. To not hear the first trumpet meant they would be unprepared to move at the sound of the second trumpet. They would be trampled by the masses at the sound of the second trumpet if unprepared to move.

It is the responsibility of Church Leadership to blow the trumpet loud and strong. Especially, when they recognize personal situations that  could affect your ability to hear that second trumpet.

We should be thankful for the men and women of God who watched and cared for our souls.

Those who blew the trumpet loud and strong so we could prepare to hear that second trumpet.

Hearing The Two Trumpets is an example to us of the kind of leadership our church needs.  It is also proof of the type of desire we all must have if we want to be ready when that day comes.

Stay close to the Lord. Don't venture too far from the Lord. This way you will be ready for the sound of the second trumpet, and be ready for Christ's return.
