He Died as a Fool Dieth

He Died as a Fool Dieth

In the sermon “He Died as a Fool Dieth,” we look at 2 Samuel 3:33, where King David mourned over Abner, asking, “Died Abner as a fool dieth?” Abner was a great warrior, a man of influence, yet he let his guard down, trusted the wrong person, and walked right into destruction. His story is a warning: foolish choices, ignoring God’s voice, and stepping outside of His covering lead to disaster.

Jezebel had chance after chance to turn back to God, yet she hardened her heart (2 Kings 9:30-37). Ahab rejected God’s warnings, Belshazzar ignored the writing on the wall, and Judas—who walked with Jesus—chose silver over salvation. Even Saul, once anointed by God, lost everything because he followed his own way instead of God’s way.

Pharaoh saw miracle after miracle, yet he refused to humble himself (Exodus 14:24-28). Some people today are just like him—God is trying to slow them down, wake them up, and lead them to repentance, but they keep pressing forward in rebellion. If you feel that pull in your heart, don’t ignore it!

Jesus’ parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21 reminds us that life is more than money or success. That man thought he had all the time in the world, but God said, “Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.” Some are chasing temporary things while ignoring their eternal soul—but tomorrow is not promised!

Even Ananias and Sapphira—who died in the presence of the church—show us that outward actions mean nothing without true surrender. God is calling for more than church attendance, more than giving—He wants total obedience!

Is your church stuck, bound, or unable to move forward? God is still delivering, still setting captives free! In Jesus’ name, the chains are breaking, the prison doors are opening, and God is making a way!

You don’t have to die a fool’s death. You don’t have to ignore God’s voice. Today is the day of salvation—choose life, choose wisdom, choose Jesus!
