In this sermon For A Very Little While, Isaiah is speaking a word from the Lord to the children of Israel. God had allowed Assyria to destroy Israel because of her sin. Yet God still had a plan for His people. The children of Israel had returned to Jerusalem under the watchful eye of Assyria.  They were still under the rule of Assyria, and were still living in fear of what Assyria had done to their families.  They were still under this yoke of bondage. It’s easy to understand why they would be afraid of the Assyrians. The favorite pastime of Assyrian kings was going to war. They were always looking for a fight, and were a merciless and savage people. Their army was ruthless. They burned cities as well as children, and chopped off heads and chopped off hands. The message from the prophet Isaiah was, don't be afraid of the Assyrians....Don’t be intimidated by them.
