A Sound Church
In this sermon A Sound Church, The word sound is a proper, scriptural term. For our use, sound should be defined as that which is "stable, safe secure, whole, firm, healthy." The word "sound" has been greatly misused and abused. It is used to describe any individual or church that opposes society and unscriptural cooperative arrangements. This is an improper applied generality of the term. Some churches may oppose the innovation of human institutions but be "run" by a Pastor, or overrun with worldliness. This is not soundness. It is sometimes used to distinguish a party movement. Sound is anyone who agrees with me on the covering question, war question, etc. Sound is anyone who agrees with "us" on who should be fellowshipped. Every Christian has a function in the body, and each member, therefore, helps to determine the soundness of the church. Let us all in order to be sound and saved endeavor to learn it and live it, and then teach it and preach it.
