A Sabbath Day’s Journey

A Sabbath Day’s Journey

Just what is A Sabbath Day’s Journey? There are several schools of thought on this subject. In the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, according to tradition, the farthest anyone would have to walk to get there was about one mile or 2000 paces. You can be assured that they lived or would situate themselves to be no farther from the temple on the Sabbath than that. I want to kick this up just a notch: There are all kinds of people from all kinds of places that come to the house of God for all kinds of reasons. The Sabbath Day’s Journey then as now is the road to the House of God. In a manner of speaking, that is the road we are all on, trying to make heaven our home and find fulfillment in living for God on this earth. What people are looking for is rest in their souls (Sabbath). There is only one place that I know of to get that. That is at the feet of the cross and in the house of God.
