In this sermon A Look At Three Generations, when a church moves toward the first generation, it's called a red-hot, on fire, revival church. As a church moves into the third generation, it becomes a liberal lukewarm, cold church. Worse yet—Ichabod—“the glory of the Lord has departed” could be written over its door. It's possible for churches to shift from godliness to godlessness. It moves from vibrant faith to empty faith.
