When I Know What He Knows

Secrets can be a pretty cool thing when used in proper context. There’s a feeling of power associated with knowing something that someone else doesn’t, and the being able to tell them about it. It’s like Christmas presents; you don’t get excited about what the actual gift is, but rather finding out what it is.

Matthew 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

God has a plan for you, your life, and this church!

2 Kings 7:1-2

1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

To appreciate this portion of scripture, you have to understand what was going on around Elisha. The king of Syria wasn’t happy with Elisha, because he told the king of Israel somethings that the king of Syria had said about him in his bedchambers, which ended up saving the king of Israel’s life. So naturally, the king of Syria was fed up with Elisha and sent an entire host of people with horses and chariots to encompass Israel. When Elisha woke up and started his day, he found all of these people covering the entire mountain. As these Syrians approached Elisha, he prayed to the Lord to “Smith this people, I pray thee, with blindness.” The Lord responded and all of the host became blind. Then, Elisha having the upper hand now, directed the Syrians to Samaria and asked the Lord to open their eyes. The king of Israel asked Elisha if he should smite the Syrians, because they had come after them in the first place. Elisha told him not to, but instead to serve them food and water so they could travel back to Syria. After the Syrians arrived home, the king of Syria sent all of his host to besiege Samaria, but there was a great famine in Samaria, so the Syrians sold everything Samaria had down to a cab of dove’s dung. The king of Israel, in a mess and starving, stumbled upon a woman and cried out to her, “Help, my lord, O king.” The woman asked him to bring his son; that they would eat him today and her son tomorrow. So the king of Israel sent a messenger to Elisha, to get him, so that they could eat, but Elisha was in his house with elders. He instructed them not to let the messenger in, which they didn’t, and the Elisha prophesied (2 Kings 7:1-2)

Elisha said, “tomorrow, about this time, things are going to change…”

When I Know What He Knows…

Ezekiel 37:1-10

37 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Ignorance is not bliss in the Kingdom of God.

Ignorance is confusion, blindness, and a state of wandering. In order to be effectively used by God, you have to be in ‘the know;’ you need to be up-to-date with God and know who you are to Him, know what he wants of you, and be willing to carry out what he wants of you.
