When we think about blessings, we often think of material things, but in reality, the majority of God’s blessings are not. In this 7 part series, Blessed are the…, we find out exactly who the blessed are and why they are blessed.

When our hearts are breaking and our eyes are blinded with tears, it’s hard to see the sovereign hand of God guiding our every step. We suffer until the purposes of God become apparent to us This may not happen for many years or even in this life. If we endure and run this race with patience, our tears will turn to joy and our sorrow into singing.

Blessed are the ones that mourn: for they shall be comforted.  (Mat 5:4)

“Did you hear what the Jesus said?” a man in the crowd scoffed to his companion. “Happy are those who mourn. If happiness and mourning go together, then we Jews must be in heaven!

Have you ever heard the expression “good grief”? It’s true. Grief is healthy. A tear in the eye tells of at least one spring in the soul. It may lie buried beneath emotional scars, a bitter divorce, rejection by parents…memories that will not die.

God’s Therapy are God’s Blessings

Tears are living proof of life. The man or woman who cannot shed tears is not fully alive. Happy are those who mourn, who can weep like a child, sob it out in their Gethsemane and later find relief in the rich laughter of heavenly consolation. They shall be comforted indeed.
